Anil Melwani
Anil is a founding partner of Melwani & Chan LLP. He has been practicing law since 2005, representing the intellectual property and securities interests of his clients. Anil practices primarily in the areas of securities litigation, copyright law, trademark law, investor rights, and intellectual property litigation. Prior to founding Melwani & Chan LLP, Anil worked as in-house counsel for Royal Silk Direct, Inc. and as an associate with the New York City law firm Lee & Kelley LLP.
Anil is licensed to practice law in New York where he received his Juris Doctorate from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Property Law, his undergraduate degree from New York University in music technology, and his graduation diplomas from Hunter College High School and Elementary School, where at a young age, he became a national chess champion
Michael Chan
Michael is a founding partner of Melwani & Chan LLP. He is also a Legal Engineer/Software Developer for OpenLaw.io creating programamable smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Prior to founding Melwani and Chan LLP he worked at a clean tech start-up in Shanghai, China. Michael was formerly Associate Corporate Counsel at United Commercial Bank and East West Bank, a publicly traded California based bank. (NASDAQ: EWBC). He advised the bank on capital raises, SEC investigations, shareholder lawsuits, and regulatory compliance issues. He also worked extensively on complex loan sales and syndication, real estate workouts and REO sales. Michael started his legal career with the entertainment law firm Anthony Arther &Associates in New York City.
Michael is licensed to practice law in New York and Connecticut. He received his Juris Doctorate from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City and his B.S. in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
